The Secretary

The founder & Secretary of Ashrama, Srimat Swami Vairagyanandajee Maharaj was born in the year 1946 in a Brahmin family at Subarnapur district of Odisha. His purbashrama name was Anantaram Nayak. His father’s name was Shri Dhoba Nayak & mother’s name was Smt. Bidyabati Devi.

Being inspire from his mother listening the lives of Dhurba, Prahallad, Narada, Sukadeva and also many mythological stories, he shows disinterest towards family life. During his school and college carrier, he was leading very simple life and wearing Dhoti and Kurta. His friends were passing comments on his dress and calling him ‘BABA’ (who has no attraction towards family life). From class five, he was reading Gita and Bhagabat purchasing out of his pocket money & study expenses and he was thinking to do social works at Jagannath Dham, Puri. During his tour to pilgrimage with his mother, she asked him “what you will do in future?” he said “bless me by which I will become a monk with saffron dress in future and may build an institution like Kanyakumari (Rock Memorial).

After completion of his education carrier from Samanta Chandra Sekhar College, Puri (Under Utkal University), Odisha he visited many Religious Organizations to become Monk (sanyasi) but could not been satisfied. At last he decided to join as Brahmachari in the year 1970 at Puri Ramakrishna Mission, Odisha following the ideology of Thakur Sri Ramakrishna Dev, Maa Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda. In the mean time, he receives Sacred Mantra from Brahmadarshi Sadhu Srimat Swami Vireswaranandaji Maharaj, the Monk Disciple of Maa Sarada Devi and started his sanyasi life. Hence forward, as per the rules of Ramakrishna Sangha, he received Brahmacharya Dikshya after completing the studies of Vedanta & Eighteen parts of Purana at Belur Math, Kolkata. After that, in the year 1982, he became the sanyasi after getting sanyas mantra from his Gurudev Srimat Swami Vireswaranandaji Maharaj and wearied Saffron Dress.

He has done many sociable works occupying different position at different Math and Mission Centers of Belur like Puri, Bhubaneswar, Arambagh and many centers of West Bengal, Kankhal, Uttarkashi, Hrushikesh, Gangotri of Uttaranchal and above all Belur Math, the Head Quarters. The remarkable achievements of his working career are Youth Awakening Program, Publication of Vivekananda Vani O’ Rachana in Odia Language and many emergencies Relief Service during natural calamities and devastation time to time occurred in Odisha and some places in India. In addition to these activities, he has been doing National Integration Camp & Programs on Religious Harmony among the youth of India since 1982.

During his stay at Uttarkasi, Hardwar and Gangotri by the instance of some Monks of that place, he thought to start social works for the poor people of Odisha. On request and suggestion of many well wishers, administrators and renounced political leaders of India, he selected Madanpur-Rampur of Kalahandi district, chosen by Swami Vivekananda himself and laid foundation stone there on 11th of September 1993, on the centenary day of Swami Vivekananda’s participation in the World Parliament of Religion at Chicago.

In his vision, he says “only 10 percent of works of his dream has been achieved till date and it is a long way to go in future.” He is trying hard to build Kalahandi, (Western Odisha) as the great Tourism Spot of India which will become THE LIGHT HOUSE OF INDIA in the days ahead. In his words, “Odisha will achieve the special honour in the world scenario in course of time if the youth of Odisha will arise.

The unseen force of Swami Vivekananda pulled me from Deva Bhoomi (Sacred place- Haridwar, India) to Kalahandi (Odisha, India) the Poorest of the poor bhoomi of the world to make it Deva Bhoomi. Let us join hand to share His divine grace and make Kalahandi the Deva Bhoomi of Odisha.”
