Situated
in the Madanpur-Rampur, (M.Rampur) Block of Kalahandi, one of the
underdeveloped districts of Orissa, India, Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama
seeks to propagate the ideas of Swami Vivekanada "Atmano mokshyartham
jagad hitaya ca", striving for one's own salvation as also for the
welfare of masses.
Since inception in 1993, it also endeavours to spread the soul inspiring
but simple teachings of Sri Ramakrishna, Maa Sarada Devi, Swami
Vivekananda. Swami Vairagyananda, the founder and moving force behind
the Ashrama is functioning as the secretary at present.
The Ashrama has two units, the main Ashrama houses the Temple, Tribal
Students Hostel, Old age Home, Mobile Dispensary, Library and Quarters
for workers and sadhus, on a land of 4.50 acres. The lush green
vegetable garden and many varieties of flowers, plants make the
surrounding very charming and a place worthy of meditation and contemplation.
The
second unit functioning at a distance of 3 kms from the main Ashrama
consists of the Residential Innovative Education Center and the
Agriculture Training Center on a land of 26.00 acres. All are welcome
here irrespective of caste, creed, religion and nationality.
How
to Get to The Ashrama :-
From
the Baramunda Bus Stand of Bhubaneshwar (State Capital) deluxe buses,
both government and private are plying upto Bhawanipatna via. Madanpur-Rampur.
Our Ashrama is situated on the main road at a distance of 365 Kms
from Bhubaneswar. Train services are also
available from different parts of India upto Naria Road/Kesinga
on South - Eastern Railway which are at a distance of 30 kms and
40 kms respectively from our Ashrama. One can also hire a taxi from
Bhubaneshwar to our Ashrama.
